Albuquerque, New Mexico is the largest city in the state and is situated in the central part of the state. The city population is approximately 521,000 and, as of June 2007, it was the sixth fastest-growing city in America. Roughly half of the population of New Mexico lives in the Albuquerque area. It is home to the University of New Mexico, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute and the Petroglyph National Monument.
